Next Week Full Of Excitement

As this week is coming to an end, next week becomes more and more hectic for me. On Monday both of my babies start their first day of school. Miss Skye will be in the 3rd grade at Mound Elementary School and Christian will be attending Hughes Middle School. I am excited but nervous at the same time. Skye is used to always having Bubba there at the same school with her. Christian would always walk Skye to her class every morning and watch after her like a proud, protective big brother should do. This year, she will be on her own for the first time. Going into middle school is a big adjustment for Christian as well. Having a locker, changing classes, the works. I remember how scary it was for me and all the nightmares I had about going to school naked, forgetting my locker combination and not remembering my class schedule used to drive me crazy. Actually, now that I think about it, the person that this is affecting the most appears to be me! It is hard for me to believe and accept that I am 30 years old with a child in middle school. WOW. Ok, on to less depressing thoughts!

A few weeks ago I found out about the "World" convention going on in San Antonio the last week of August. Each year the "World" convention takes place and the convention is held only in one place at a time. Each year they move to a new city and it could be anywhere... you guessed it..... on the planet hence the name. It just so happens that this year's convention is being held in San Antonio! The World convention is a HUGE deal and it lasts for 4 days. The tickets alone are $95 and there are all kinds of activities and food and concerts during the 4 days. This year ZZ Top is one of the bands that Will be playing. I was disappointed when I found out about it because I knew I couldn't afford the admission, there was no way I could find a hotel on such short notice (considering people come from all over the world to go), and I don't have the finances to pay for food and travel expenses. Almost every single friend of mine is going.

Last night a good friend of mine told me that her roomie for the World convention backed out and she didn't want to go alone. She begged me to go. I told her I couldn't afford it. She said that if we take my car that she will pay for ALL of my expenses: food, gas, hotel, everything! This may be my ONLY chance to get to attend. I was ecstatic! Next, I had to try and ask for the time off on very short notice. I talked to my boss this morning and explain what a great opportunity this is for me and she is letting me take Thursday and Friday off. YAY!!!! So, I will head out of here Wednesday as soon as I get off work and head straight to San Antonio. I'm so excited! I will take tons of pictures and post them when I return.
