Snakes In A Classroom

Last night I took Lestat (my male Red Tail Boa Constrictor) to Skye's Girl Scout meeting. I did a 45 minute lesson on snakes and went into detail about their anatomy, behavior, eating habits, life span, and so on. I was a bit nervous about how the girls would react considering Lestat is now a whopping 5 1/2 feet in length. I went over precautions and rules before getting Lestat out of the animal carrier I brought him in. The were a few gasps once I first got him out however after talking for a few minutes while holding him, the girls quickly calmed down. In fact, most of the girls came up to touch him! Since Lestat was handling the whole experience without a problem, I went ahead and let the girls hold him if they were interested. To my surprise, most of the girls came up and held him. They did so great with him that I was impressed. Even some of the parents came up to touch him however none of the parents wanted to hol him lol. I have a ton of pictures which I will be posting either tonight or tomorrow evening so make sure you check back soon!

Long Time No Write

It's been awhile since I've updated this but there are a few reasons for this. One, I have had a lot of things going on in my life. Someone recently (a few months back) pushed me to my limit and it taught me a very valuable lesson; never take less than what you deserve. In the process of that learning experience which I am grateful for, I have made the life-changing decision that I refuse to let anyone ever walk on me again. I have learned how to stand up for myself and fight for what is right. Therefore, I started this change in my life by filing a police report as well as court papers to take my ex roommate to court. It has been a long and drawn out process but my court date is coming up on April 9th. While I am excited, I am also nervous. I have had county officials even tell me that she doesn't have a leg to stand on in the fight and that I am going to win the case. I'm not counting my eggs before they hatch though. We'll see how it goes.

During this time of self-discovery and making some serious changes in my life, I have gotten to know someone that has turned out to be not only a wonderful man but is also my best friend. I am thankful to have such a sweet person in my life. He has also shown me what I do and do not deserve. No one has ever treated me as good as he does. There's NO jealousy, INSECURITIES, and he has been supportive of me through everything I've done. Just when I lost hope in all men, he was there to change my mind. I've been so happy to have his support for the past 4 months and I look forward to many more wonderful times together. I can't wait to make some more memories together, sweetie! Soon......... very soon........

As if the court hearing coming up wasn't enough to endure, I also had the experience of someone I knew passing away. I will be dedicating a post just to her, but it was a sudden and unfortunate loss. Samantha was only 17 years old and she was a beautiful girl with the rest of her life ahead of her. The world has suffered a severe loss the day she passed. Her passing put a lot of things in perspective for me about life. You hear it all the time that you never know when it's your time but it is so true. Never let a day pass by where you don't tell your loved ones that you love them and to hug those dear to you. When I went to visit her family the day after Samantha passed away, I saw people from all walks of life come over to offer their support. There must have been over 30 people at her house. People brought food, support, chairs, blow up beds for relatives, and hugs with tears. It was heart-breaking and heart-warming all at the same time. A bitter-sweet event by all means.

Now that my blog is back and running (someone thought it would be cute to report my blog as SPAM and therefore I could not post until the situation was resolved) I think I've caught everyone up to recent events. As you can see that things have been hectic in my life including getting ready to move. I love you all and I will post more soon!
